Ainming at the phenomenon that sensory experience is not fully considered in car interior design, this paper mainly discussed how the sensory experience affects the element of car interior and fields of other experience eg. Emotional experience, through researching on methods of design based on sensory experience. After exploration and analysis, this paper summarizes four types of sensory experience when people use the product, including single sensory experience, synesthesia experience, compensatory sensory experience and multisensory experience, and researches their important meaning and value for design. In the part of design research, the car interior was separated to four elements: instrument panel, seats, steering wheel and door panel, and the development trend of each element are discussed. Besides, the change of energy also caused big impact on interior design. In the part of cosumer research, according to the target customers and car model, this paper explores the lifestyle and attitude of target customers, and analyses the requirement of them by interview. Since that, it continues to study the design strategy and method of new energy sedan which can promote the sensory experience of customers. Finally, through a case study of this paper, the design theory has been verified. The study for the promotion of sensory experience is meaningful and valuable to the guidance of emotional experience and extension of participation.
