Research On The Mode Of Sustainable Construction Of The Reformation Of Guangyuanli Squatter Settlement, Beijing

Beijing, as the center of politics, economics, education and so on, is facing with the problems caused by the expanding of the city. Overconcentration of the resource leads to the fast increase of population and exorbitant high price of lands and houses, and these then cause other problems like the big gap between the wealth and the poor, the traffic jam and the exacerbation of the environment. Meanwhile, during the development of the city, some abnormal imprints are left, such as the squatter settlement. There still are a lot of crowded squatter settlements in Beijing City, which count more than five hundred merely inside the Fourth Ring Road. These squatter settlements enjoy the important location, but are in a waste of lands and offer a bad environment of living. So if we can reuse these districts, we will not only beautify the city and improving the living, but also raise the land use capability, slow down the high speed of urbanization and also reduce the time cost of living.Guangyuanli Squatter settlement, which is the focus research of this dissertation, is such a typical example. Although located inside the southeast Second Ring Road in Beijing, it is a place like a village in the city including all one-story houses with additional construction. It is a real reformation project, and so it is affected by many other factors of society, economics and politics. However, this dissertation is based on a research, trying to discuss about the best solution from aspect of architecture and urban design.Firstly, this dissertation classifies the problems of Beijing squatter settlement reformation and picks up the difficulties of building. Then by reading resources and analyzing cases, it tries to find an appropriate reform mode. Afterwards, combine the theoretical mode with the real project so that the mode can guide the project while the project will amend the mode. In the end, this dissertation tries to come up with some construction advices on the reformation mode through this case.
