The suspended dome structure, which is composed of the upper single layer reticulated shell and the lower cable-strut tensile system, is a new kind of hybrid spatial structure system. The stability and integral rigidity of single-layer reticulated shell are strengthened by the lower one. With its low requirement for boundary constraints, relatively easier construction application and pleasing & novel shape, it has broad prospects for application. On the basis of the summarization of existing research results and taking a gymnasium as the background engineering, this paper focuses on the systematic study on long-span elliptical suspended dome structures. The main work is as follows:1. Static performance of long-span elliptical suspended dome is calculated and analysed.The differences of the static characteristics such as structural deformations and internal forces of members under load between the suspended dome structures and the corresponding latticed shells are analyzed and compared. And then, the static performance of suspended domes with different rise-to-span ratios are investigated.2. The nonlinear buckling behaviors of the elliptical suspended dome and corresponding single layer latticed shell are investigated respectively by introducing geometric nonlinearity, material elastic-plasticity, initial geometric imperfection and half-span distribution of live loads. The influences of initial geometric imperfection distribution mode and the most unfavorable bucking mode on the stability analysis of suspended dome are further discussed. Based on the research above, the stability behaviors of suspended domes with different rise-to-span ratios are studied.3. By comparing results of 4 kinds of different stretching schemes which indicate the member internal force and joint displacement, analyzing the influence of different stretching sequences and stretching control values on structures, we select the reasonable plan.According to the conclusions obtained above, aiming at elliptical suspended dome stuctures, this paper discusses different schemes of construction simulation analysis and studies more deeply in the static performance, stability of the suspended dome sturctures and corresponding latticed shells. It also discusses reasonable selections of different construction simulation analysis schemes.
