In recent years, infrastructure construction was developed rapidly in the city of Beijing. Billions tonnes of road material was needed every year. Exploiting the mine for the road material is devastating to the environment. With the mining field be closed, road material supply for urban construction is serious insufficient, so these material should be bought from Hebei and other surrounding areas. That will increase the transportation cost greatly. The price of road material is increasing day by day. So it is needed to find the alternative resources of traditional road material for urban construction. In order to make full use of coal gangue, and solve the situation of insufficient supply of natural stone, research of coal gangue in pavement base on the Applied technology was started. The purpose of this paper was to research on the performance of basement material with the coal gangue. First, it was studied on the coal gangue particle composition, physical and mechanical indexes analysis. Second, mix design was made for the basement with coal gangue. Then, the growth law of strength mechanism, compressive strength with the optimal gradation was studied. Third, the material parameters of coal gangue base was studied. The range of compressive resilient modulus of 180 days cement stabilized coal gangue was determined, which is 1100~1300MPa. The range of compressive resilient modulus of 180 days two ash stabilized coal gangue was determined, which is 1000~1200MPa. Fourth, experimental research was carried out for the engineering application of coal gangue base. Finally, combining the research results of this paper, proposal of construction was put forward.
