LED lighting is considered to be the fourth generation of light source, it has many advantages such as high light effect, long life, high efficiency, environmentally friendly, etc. Meanwhile, with the quickening of the urbanization process and the in our country and the government’s emphasis on the energy-saving and emission reduction in road lighting, LED lighting gradually shows its attraction and competitiveness, road lighting control system has also been a hot research nowadays.This paper describes a new type of DC centralized power supply LED street lamp intelligent dimming system. The system is derived from the Beijing Electric Power Company of State Grid, it has been put use into the Electric Power Research Institute in Beijing. According to the system requirements and characteristics, choose to use Power-line Carrier Communication and USB/RS-232 serial port communication technology as the monitoring center and the street lamp terminal node, data transmission rely on the power line communication.The system can gather data of lamp terminal through power-line carrier communication, and the data will be sent to the control center, in order to achieve the lights on remote sensing, remote control, remote dimmer and remote monitoring. Through the collections of suitable methods for various kinds of LED street lamp driver and brightness control, and analyze their respective advantages and disadvantages, this article chooses the suitable LED street lamp system drive mode and brightness control method according to take on DC power supply system. Aimed at factors of sunny or rainy weather and the trees cover, actual road LED street lamp lighting effects were measured, and compared with national standard of the average illuminance, uniformity of illuminance, average brightness, luminance uniformity, surround ratio, etc.It is found that weather and trees cover can have a great influence on road lighting effect. Considering these two factors in road lighting design is helpful to improve the applicability of the road lighting,and also a supplement and complete on traditional lighting design method.
