In recent years, the energy shortage and environmental pollution is becoming more and more serious. In China, wood and straw resource is very rich, but only very few can be effective utilized, and direct burning leads to serious environmental pollution.Wood, straw and other biomass materials can become a highly efficient clean energy after anaerobic roasting, which, to some extent, can replace traditional fuels such as coal, natural gas, timber, alleviate the pressure of energy shortage, and improve the present situation of environmental pollution. By anaerobic roasting, the problem of biomass fuel storage, waterproof, fire prevention, and so on can be effectively solved, having a very broad prospects for development. In this paper, the change of chemical composition of the maize straw, salix, Beijing Yang in the process of roasting were studied, the influence of temperature and time on chemical composition and calorific value were analysised using the Fourier infrared spectrum, X-ray diffraction and other technical means for the corresponding characterization and theoretical analysis were carried out. At last, a small pilot plant as an example was studied about the economic indicators of the project. The economic benefits was analysised and evaluated. The conclusions is as follow:1. With the increase of calcination temperature, the content of cellulose and hemicellulose content has a trendence of decrease, while lignin content increased; The amount of cellulose and hemicellulose gradually reduce with the increase of roasting time, on the contrary, lignin content tends to increase, but the trend was stable, thus roasting time had a little effects on chemical composition. Materials calorific value increased with the increase of calcination temperature and roasting time.2. The calorific value had a positive correlation with the contains of cellulose, lignin; The calorific value had a positive correlation with the contains of hemicellulose, but the correlation level was not significant.3. The crystallinity increased with/the increase of temperature and treated time.4. After roasting, the absorption peaks of organic functional groups have a big change. Roasting process made the number of oxygen containing functional groups in material decrease greatly, which can improve energy density of materials.5. The profitability of maize straw baked charcoal burner project is good, its financial internal rate of return is greater than the industry benchmark yields, dynamic investment recovery period is short. The profit level of clay baked charcoal burner project is low relatively, its financial internal rate of return is greater than the industry benchmark yields, but the dynamic investment recovery period is too long.
