Study On The Aged-oriented Design Of The Public Space In The Subway Station

With the social economy development, the urban traffic becomes harder and harder.It has promoted the subway in our country’s construction development. Subway’s status in the urban public transport system is more and more important.The more stringent requirements are on the design of the subway stations.Now the aging problem is increasingly serious, the elderly will be a lot of use of the subway as a travel tool. In order to meet the needs of aged people on the demand of the subway station, to meet the city on the subway system, designers need to consider the different needs of the crowd, letall passengers can enjoy a safe, comfortable, fast and efficient subway service. So the designers need to understand the demand for subway station in the elderly population, understand the needs of the passengers.According to the subway station design standards and principles,designers want to improve the design of the subway station.This paper first studies the psychological and behavioral characteristics of the elderly, to understand their basic needs. Then analyzes and summarizes the system structure of the subway station. Through the questionnaire survey of elderly passengers and field research, investigate and analyse the existing metro station suitable old fitness design shortcomings and the insufficiency from the theory and practice. There exists many problems, such as low security, convenience, poor accessibility, and so on. After sums the principles and related cases about subway station suitable for the old people, eventually design content for the subway station space, facilities, orientation, transfer were suitable for the elderly optimization. Considers it necessary to make the improvement from the aspects of safety, convenience, accessibility, transfer convenience to the existing station.And puts forward to subway station design method of public space to satisfy the elderly passengers demand. That is designing from the elderly the actual needs and psychological behavior of rational design of subway station in all aspects.Then uses this design method in existing many problems subway practice validate the retrofit design.With Shanghai Zhongshan Park station the effectiveness and applicability of the optimum design and modification for the old, disprove this design method.
