Electric vehicles have the advantages of strong power and green environmental protection, which is the key to solving the problems of environment and energy at present. Power battery is the core component of electric vehicle, battery management system is one of the core techniques of electric vehicle, which can meet the demand of power battery system information of electric vehicles’controllers, components and driver, and it has important significance to improve the efficiency and life of power battery. In particular, the battery management system can provide safety monitoring for power battery, which can significantly improve the security of electric vehicle. Research of battery management system can significantly accelerate the promotion process of electric vehicles.Aiming at the application of EV, the functional requirements of the BMS are analyzed, and the design of the BMS is analyzed. Firstly, through the analysis of the functional requirements of automobile, the basic functions of the BMS should be obtained. Considering the practicability and cost of the battery management system, the battery management system should possess the functions of battery state monitoring, battery state analysis of SOC estimation, battery safety protection, the energy management in the charge and discharge control function and battery information management the work can be. At the same time, the topological structure of battery management system is selected, then the applicability of the battery management system is considered, finally distributed battery management system based on CAN network is chose to be more applicable to multi-monomer battery, multi-battery packages scenarios application.In view of Functions for the battery management system, main controller of battery management system is completed, the circuit of controller is designed, man-machine interactive display is selected, the battery voltage power distribution box design and battery pack thermal management scheme design are completed.Then the software function of the battery management system and the layered structure of the software are analyzed. The hardware driver is introduced with the LTC6802 driver, and the function of the application is described briefly. Then the estimation strategy and software realization of SOC, fault diagnosis, charge control strategy are introduced, finally the battery management system main controller program flow chart design is completed in order to design a complete battery management system.Finally, the design of the battery management system is applied to the test bench, through comparative analysis, the validation of the battery management system function can meet the design requirement.
