Miaowei hydropower station right bank foregoing slope locates between two gully. Quartz sandstone makes up the most of slope, lots of structural plane in the slope, the rock mass weatheres badly and dumps seriously, the underground water level is low and over the river. Rock mass toppling and structural plane are the main effects to the stability.This thesis summarizes toppling deformation characteristics on the basis of measured data, topography、rock structure、lithology、free surface、rainfall and water level influences on the topping, this thesis qualitative analyzes deformation pattern. Deformation of slope toe gives rise to the toppling of upper rock mass, the surface rock mass would collapse or slide ladder shaped once the rock further dumps, the slope would slide even.The design crierion of slope is class A grade 1 according to design specification, thesis analyzes the stability of slope in persistent working condition、short condition and accidental condition. Both 2D rigid limit equilibrium analysis and 2D discrete element analysis tells that slope is unstable with the situation that F128 fault makes bottom sliding surface and intensive joint tape makes trailing edge sliding surface, it dosen’t meet the stability requirements with all kinds of structure surface combinations in short working condition, which means reinforcement is necessary. Three kinds of reinforcement are propused(slag heap to the level of 1388m、1398m、 1408m),the reinforcement of 1398m meets the stability requirement with smaller quantities.This thesis provides a reference for other projects.
