| Urban form in depicting and defining characteristics of a city have been a significant position in urban history for a long time. The majority of study in this field based on geometric description in macro perspective. However, the scale of an urban block which constitute urban fabric is a micro perspective for observing urban form. Urban fabric maybe difference in organization or order if they are at different position in a city or not in a same culture.How to comprehend and depict different urban fabric have become an issue that we must face on. So far, most scholar have used index system in a variety of views to describe urban form. Combining a range of these research, we will make a comprehensive sort of these index system in describing urban fabric from different perspective. In addition, we will screen these indicators, and then review whether they are able to describe and control the urban block or fabric.In first chapter, we have a introduction about background and necessity of the research, then we proposed method to guide our study. In second chapter we introduced the research of index system of urban form. In addition, we extract indicators from these index systems. In third chapter, we classified all the indicators and then had analysis on these indicators. Excluding irrelevant indicators, we finally obtain the index related to morphology. In addition, we propose a new comprehensive index system. In forth Chapter, we use a diverse range of real slice to inspect whether the index system can depict and control of urban block. |
