Hydropower is a clean, green and renewable resource. The hydroelectric resource development is a comprehensive task including power engineering construction, flood control projects, water projects,environmental protects, poverty alleviation projects, marine traffic engineering construction and beautiful landscape ecological engineering projects, whose comprehensive utilization benefits are over other resources at present.In order to do a better job of protecting natural environment during the process of hydroelectric development and realize the full, coordinated and sustainable development of water-power exploitation and environmental protection, according to the requirements of The Notice of Further Protecting the Environmental Protection in Hydroelectric Development, we need to strengthen the monitoring of the full process of hydroelectric development, actively launch specified projects for environmental protection, environmental management and environmental supervision. Hydro-power deveplopemt projects often last for a long period, involve many people and have huge influences; thus it is very important to protect the environment during the process of environmental protection.The Xiaoping hydro-power station is a large scale hydro-power engineering project which locates in environmental sensitive areas. In order to control and reduce the influences of waste water, noise and dust on the environment during the construction period, the project strictly adheres to the principle that the equipment for pollution should be designed, put in construction and put into use together with the station. The project also proposes the environment-friendly idea that building a hydro-power station to promote the local economy and improving the environment to bring benefits to local people. The project also set up a center for environment protection and management in the the project complex, which conducts work for hydro-power station environmental protection, environmental management, environmental supervision and environmental monitoring.The project has efficiently established the environmental supervision system and environmental monitoring system in the project complex and launched the ecological protection project, wastewater treatment project, domestic sewage treatment project, dust treatment project, conservancy engineering project, afforestation project, public health protection project.It also passed the intercepting system specialized test and impoundment period specialized test organized by National Ministry of Environmental Protection.
