As the size and capacity of the power system is growing, safe and reliable operation of the power system impact on people’s lives more and more significantly. RMU is important as the power system’s switch equipment, plays an important role in the control and protection. The quality of RMU running state of the safe and reliable operation of power system plays a very important role. In all RMU’s faults, the fault of mechanical properties account for a large proportion. RMU is achieved mechanical properties online monitoring is an important prerequisite to improve the power system stable operation. In-depth study of the mechanical properties of the ring line monitoring, do a significant improvements on periodic maintenance.This approach is conducive to scientific periodic maintenance, and it is possible to improve the reliability of the power system. From the basics of RMU to start, according to current research,given the significance of the research, and presents a RMU mechanical properties of a comprehensive online monitoring program.(1) First do a conclusion of RMU mechanical parameters. Then according to the type of failure and RMU’s the mechanical properties of the basic principles of online monitoring propose a feasible on-line monitoring method. According to online monitoring data obtained,we can judge RMU running status and fault hazards that may exist.(2) From the hardware and software aspects of the RMU conducted a comprehensive analysis of mechanical properties. First, design the overall structure of the whole on-line monitoring system, and then for the input module, the next crew, a communication module,human-computer interaction module and PC module do a detailed design. These designs include hardware circuitry and software capabilities. Due to the environment, on-line monitoring system will inevitably be affected by electromagnetic interference, so this method of hardware and software for prevent electromagnetic interference were considered.(3) Through the transformation of the structure of the sensor, a coder for RMU travel- time monitoring, and according points, closing coil current curve Calculated contact travel, contact opening distance, the contact over travel, the average opening speed and the average closing speed, divided, closing time and other parameters. The acceleration sensors to monitor vibration signal. By wavelet analysis method to deal with the vibration signal, and then get RMU action feature quantity. By the CAN bus system for data upload, and communicate with the host computer, and can realize the function of remote communication.(4) With the help of experimental company, I am interested in the mechanical properties of proposed method of on-line monitoring and simulation test verification. Tests showed erroronline monitoring system designed in this paper measured within the allowable range. This detection method fully meet the RMU-line monitoring and failure warning requirements, and with strong enforceable.
