Programming Of Traditional Villages Planning

Rural development draws more and more attention in the new period of ’New Normal’ for China’s urbanization process. Traditional villages passed on the gene of culture, the wisdom of production and living, the national geographic features and the historical memory of Chinese nation, but under the rapid development of urbanization, people ignore the preservation and harmonious development between villages and cities. Yunnan province owns the biggest amount of traditional villages among all the provinces with the number of 502. At present, the traditional village protection and development planning work goes on in a full swing, but the ’thousand as one’ village planning technique has bad impact on protecting the traditional villages and embodying the village characteristic, as well as making villages’ prospects."Architectural Programming" is a theory based on a lot of temporal and scientific research, then to do the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the present situation and restricting factors, with the orientation of value ranking there reaches the optimal design procedures and methods. At present, the "Architectural Programming" is more and more widely used in the early stage of decision-making in project construction, but-few used in urban and rural planning, however, a lot of temporal and scientific research is needed especially in village planning. The thesis introduces the "Architectural Programming" theory based on value ranking by Robert G. Hershberger into the preliminary study of the protect and development of traditional villages, in order to avoid the blindness and sameness of planning, puts forward the idea-of from "Architectural Programming" to "village Programming".Based on the summary of the problems in present traditional village protection and development planning, the thesis takes Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture as research object, founding the theory of "Village programming" with the orientation of value ranking, and choosing three typical villages to conduct the programming so that to be applied in the traditional village protection and development planning work, to elaborate the method of empirical research from "Architectural Programming" to "village Programming". The research reaches the conclusion that in the protection of traditional villages, "programming" is much more important than "planning" and "programming" must go first than "planning", "programming" makes the preliminary study of village planning specific and standard while makes the "planning" targeted and more rational.
