The pressuremeter test and static cone penetration test are two kinds of common in-situ test, both of them have a good application in the field of geotechnical engineering investigation and development prospects. Compared with the laboratory test, the parameters obtained from the in-situ test is more reliable, the in-situ stress state of soil samples will be destroyed once samples are taken out from soil layer, this error cannot be fixed no matter how accurate operation we do. Therefore, the accuracy of the results of the experiments can be highly increasedwith studying the principle ofpressuremeter test and static cone penetration test. This paper briefly analyzes the characteristics and development situation of pressuremeter test and static cone penetration test at domestic and foreign, combining with the standard of different countries, this article explains the compositon, operation process and application results of the pressuremeter test and static cone penetration. Besides, it also analyses the various related geotechnical strength parameters calculation formula. In combination with the measured data in geotechnical engineering investigation of a pratical project, the parameters of the pressuremeter test and static cone penetration through the calculation of bearing capacity and compression modulus of soils, then compared with the laboratory test result, summed up the pressuremeter test and static cone penetration in the actual application value in engineering application.
