Due to rapid urbanization in recent years, our environment also exposes more and more problems. The overall city planning began to integrate with the urban green space system planning, strengthen the construction of urban green areas has become one of the effective measures to solve environmental problems caused by urbanization. The construction of various special gardens have been gradually recognized by the society, the botanical garden is a theme park of urben green space, its functionality were determined by the introduction and domestication of botany, science shows, sightseeing tours and other related functions. As the greenbelt covering large area of urban environment, botanic gardens play an important role in protecting variety diversity and creating a natural ecological landscape. Therefore, the botanical garden landscape construction should be considered as an important strategy in urban construction and development planning for the future.There are different issues in the building process of botanical garden, such as diverse emphases of the botanic introduction and domestication, landscape design, etc. How to make modern botanical garden planning and design more scientific is the vital work that designer should study in the current social context. This paper based on Botanical Garden theory, it combines urban characteristic with the concept of Botanical Garden’s rational construction to discuss the particular theory and method that contain urban geographical features. The thesis analyseWeinan City Botanical Garden Design case to introduce specific theory and practical method, the main conclusions are as follows:1. In the botanical garden planning and design process, designer should meet the principle of general guidance, for example,functionality, ecology,scientificity, characteristic etc,. It also should combined with surrounding conditions, like terrain processing, heap mountains and impoundment. As an eligible green landscape, it not only need to keep the surrounding ecological environment steady, but also need to improve existing problems.2. The design of Weinan City Botanical Garden were intended to create local characteristics of the botanical garden landscape, thus pre-study focused on Weinan’s culture and local customs, as well as plant types. Then it is convenient to integrate urban characteristic with landscape arrangement.3. By means of practical design, the major functional areas of Weinan Botanical garden were defined as follows: the ecological and cultural display area, water sports area, exhibition area of trees, exhibition area of flowers, display area of wetlands, introduction and acclimatization area. In genral, the garden adopted "one ring, one core, two-axis, multi-point" layout, it forms a landscape pattern: "A ring of aspen provide shade, a central pavilion lighten the ambience. Two brooks intersperse the axis, multi-point green view encircle the garden".This paper obtained a design method of botanical garden with geographical feature by means of comparison, explore, and example demonstration. It is designed to improve the quality of people’s living, meanwhile, it also providing a theoretical method for urban construction.
