Traditional Materials In The Design Of Contemporary Indoor Public Spaces Applied Research

In the era of globalization,the indoor public space has gradually lost its traditional characteristics and shows an obvious trend of convergence.It is a hot topic that how to achieve balance between the contemporary and the traditional of Chinese design and maintain unique features while getting rid of the homogeneity of the indoor public space and the mechanical imitationalism.As an important element of indoor public space design,traditional materials play a role in resisting homogenization of design,enhancing spatial identity and inheriting historical context.In contemporary design,the mainstream way to achieve the integration of the new and the traditional is to apply traditional materials to indoor public space,yet omit extremes of the contemporary and the traditional.This study is to excavate contemporary values of four materials including brick,stone,wood and tile.Currently,traditional materials are generally used in the architectural surface.This paper explores the new application channels of traditional materials and the application measures of them in the design of contemporary indoor public space.Starting with the shortcomings of traditional materials in the design and application of contemporary indoor public space,this paper summarizes the problems of traditional materials in performance,ecology,design convergence,emotional alienation and so on.In view of the above problems,it put forward solutions,such as appropriate technology,combinatorial expression,ecological application and meticulous design,to name but a few.Finally,it guides the design creation through theoretical research,builds the relationship between traditional materials and indoor public space,and redesigns the design direction and quality paradigm of traditional materials.A design form that fits the contemporary indoor public space is put forward to inject vitality into the development of indoor public space design.
