With the rapid growth of traffic and the increasing urban environment worse, efficient and environmentally friendly way to travel has become a hot topic nowadays. As a kind of new environmentally friendly electric transport, portable electric transport possesses very important significance and extensive long term potential. In order to improve the single function and poor man-machine interaction of today’s portable electric transport, innovative design methods were studied in this paper to add the human-machine and functional elements into it, and apply it to the portable electric transport design. In the paper, firstly, the author researches, analyzes and summarizes the user needs and defined the man-machine features of the product by building the product material-field model, and Combining the man-machine features with FAST (Function Analysis System Technique) method. Secondly, the FAST functional structure of the model is established based on the ergonomics elements, and then a practical innovations program is obtained. Finally the program was reflected in the portable electric transport design.The innovative design method studied in this paper is based on the ergonomics elements, and as an innovative method of product design is further expansion of the FAST functional approach. Through this method, the FAST function structure model which is based on the ergonomics elements has been established. It enables the product to get innovative functional programs from the perspective of the ergonomics elements. Besides, it refined the functionality of portable electric transport and improved man-machine interaction. Overall this innovative design method is of great significance to improve the ergonomics functions of portable electric transport.
