According to the plan of China railway, in the next 5-10 years the development of intercity railway will be on fast track. However, the existing intercity railway ticket system and pricing strategy can neither meet the needs of intercity market competition, nor fulfill the growing demands of passengers. In this paper, it researched on intercity railway ticket system design methods and pricing strategy, hoping to improve intercity railway competitiveness in passenger transportation market.Firstly, the definition and connotation of railway ticket system and pricing strategy was discussed in depth. By analyzing the railway ticket types and current pricing policies situation both at home and abroad, some experience can be drew and employed in our domestic intercity railway system.Secondly, the status of ticket system was clearly defined in design process of intercity railway passenger transportation product and principles of intercity railway ticket system designing were proposed. By establishing China intercity railway alternative ticket set with full consideration of design factors under different dimensions, the basic intercity railway ticket system was designed according to our practical conditions.Then by comprehensively applying disaggregate model, bi-level programming model and game theory, the intercity passenger market cooperative pricing model and the secondary markets cooperative pricing model were established in this paper and a heuristic algorithm based on sensitivity analysis was given.Finally, a case study was carried out under the background of Beijing-Tianjin intercity passenger transportation market. Combined with survey data, intercity passenger transportation market in Beijing-Tianjin was subdivided and the utility function of travel mode in each secondary market was calibrated with the help of BL model to analyze the elasticity of demanding Price. On the base of the intercity railway alternative ticket set and equilibrium price which was calculated through the cooperative pricing model, a differentially priced Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway ticket system was designed.
