The operation scheme for the intercity passenger dedicated line (PDL) train is one of the essential components of the PDL operation and organization activities. Since the intercity PDL is different from the common PDL, the operation scheme for the intercity PDL passenger train needs to be studied in time, especially with the construction of the intercity PDL. Although much academic researches into the operation scheme for passenger trains and even that of PDL passenger trains have been done, many issues have not been solved with definite conclusions; in particular, for this new product of the intercity PDL, no systematic analysis has been conducted, which requires further and deeper researches.Based on both domestic and foreign experiences and researches, this paper studies in details the operation scheme for non-network intercity PDL passenger trains. In order to scientifically and reasonably stipulate the operation scheme for the intercity PDL passenger train, this paper begins with the combination of the organization model of the PDL and the characteristic analysis of the research object, i.e. Myang—Chengdu—Em Intercity PDL, and concludes the transportation and organization model that is suitable for the PDL at the early stage. After that, it systematically analyses the contents of the operation scheme for the intercity PDL passenger train as well as the corresponding factors that influence the operation scheme thereof.The operation frequency is a major index for the intercity PDL train. The objective function is established in terms of the overall planning and detailed principles, and of the profits of the railway enterprise and the benefits of passengers; the time matching degree is introduced to quantify the convenience of passengers, by which the multi-objective programming model of the passenger train operation shceme is established; to further study the operation and organization of the intercity PDL passenger train, the optimization model of the stop schedule scheme is introduced into the operation scheme. Besides, with the aim of further clarifying the parameters and variables of the objective function and the constraint conditions, the nature of passenger flow of the intercity PDL is also studies in this paper; a model of share rates between different transportation means and a model of passenger flow distribution of various passenger trains are also established by utilizing the Logit theory; such modes fully show the initiative of passengers in selecting passenger trains. Based on the analysis of the models, the solution algorithm of the multi-objective programming is suggested in this paper; the GP algorithm is mainly used to solve the multi-objective 0-1 programming model. The studies and researches in this paper provide theoretical criteria for the stipulation of the operation scheme for non-network intercity PDL passenger trains.
