Nowadays, containerized freight has become one of trends of developments of cur-rent railway freight transport, depending on its advantages such as efficiently reducing freight loss and convenience to carry out the multimodal transportation system. As the crucial nodes of the whole transport network of containerized freight, the railway con-tainer terminals should allocate their internal handling resources reasonably, which has very positive impacts on optimizing handling operation, improving the work efficien-cies within terminals, decreasing the management cost of internal handling process and enhancing the quality of the whole containerized transport network. In this context, this thesis will expand research on allocation of handling resources in railway container ter-minals, and following main contents are included:(1) In order to define main research objectives, this thesis builds optimization frameworks for allocations of handling resources within central stations, lists factors that affects the allocation work, and analyzes the characteristics and categories of re-sources layouts of handling areas of container terminals existing in China by making comparisons with features of handling resources belong to container ports; in addition, the summary of traits and applicable conditions of sorts of handling resources is formed to determine the handling process and technology to mainly study here; furthermore, this thesis will also develop analysis on operation processes, sorting methods and costs of handling resources existing in railway container terminals, and ensure that the main content here is making research on allocations of handling equipment resources under the condition that it’s container trains who do the unloading process.(2) In view of primary factors that influence allocations of handling resources in specific operation processes, during the study on handling technologies of’Rail gantry crane-Truck-stackers’, this thesis discusses about relationships between handling re-sources allocations and resources scheduling optimizations, and analyzes the allocation abilities of multiple handling equipment from modeling prospective; based on study above, a efficiency model of allocations of handling resources during’Rail gantry crane-Truck-stackers’operation is built under the limitation of related elements such as amounts of containers, working capacities of handling equipment, following relations of operations, locations of equipment etc. and continuous researches are made about re-sults of efficiencies of different scenarios of handling equipment allocations with un- loading work from container trains. Moreover, the genetic algorithm combining with other algorithms like greedy is utilized in the allocation model of handling resources in order to design a better model and reach the feasible solutions.(3) In order to make comparisons and analyze working results of different allocation scenarios of handling resources, the combination of other limited factors like averagely daily handled containers are included here to analyze the handling costs of multiple handling equipment and resources; meanwhile, based on evaluation indexes such as boundary benefits, this thesis also explores integrated impacts of handling durations and costs of allocations.(4) Aiming to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the model built before, this thesis designs examples based on goods unloading environment of container trains. Re-sults show that the proposed model and algorithm can reflect the issue of handling re-sources allocations and following working efficiencies in specific operation environ-ments through solving example, which could function as a reference to allocation of handling resources in daily productions and operations of Chinese railway container terminals.
