This article through to research along the Yangtze river downstream of the local-style dwelling houses in modern times, the analysis of the distribution of the residential indoor landscape characteristics, through the understanding of different component of the use and significance to interpretation of the humanities and habits of the precipitation in residential environment. Through the different stages of dwellings is improved and retained by the part of the pattern is discussed under the current environment of residential development prospects.During continuous development of materials and folk residential patterns, people have carried on some practices and patterns in changing environment. Therefore, the customary practices evolved from daily life has become the crucial factor determining interior pattern of folk residential.In this paper, it has been studied and explained the modern folk residential in terms of three aspects, such as pattern change, driving factors for change, and the value of interior pattern as well as heritage issue.During the overall interior pattern change process and the recent economic development, transformation of working mode has resulted in the variation of residential pattern, bestowing many elastic space with more specific positions. At the same time, advancement of materials and technologies have made nature play a less influential role in space. In the future residential development mode, the concept of home and regional home feeling should be conserved as the form of affection or memory. Analyzing residential pattern and function in common situations in combination with modern time features will help us analyze and create more living space that are more appropriate for certain time and region in this paper.
