The fragment warhead is the main measure to damage the air targets and light protection military units, it has been a research emphasis of warheads gain technologies that how to promote the damage ability of fragments as the developments of protective and maneuver ability of targets. The ordinary warheads can increase the fragme nt velocity by initiated eccentrically but has little effect to fragment density. In order to seek the method to achieve density gain, the hex prism warhead was studied by actual test and numerical simulation, the dispread property of fragments under vario us detonating modes was analyzed and evaluated. The empirical calculate formula that suited for eccentric two-point initiation was obtained by reference data. The line initiations technique was researched through many aspects. The conclusions were present as follows.(1) An actual warhead test of hex prism warhead in different initiation cases was carried and an ordinary cylinder warhead with same size was set as comparison, additionally these 3D models of two types warhead was built, and the explosive proc esses were simulated by ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Experiments and simulation results show that although the explosive payloads of hex-warhead was less than cylinder style that holds same length and outer diameter, the fragment velocity was similar; the velocity of fragments can be increased observably when it is initiated at eccentric 2 lines; the hex prism style has an effect of focus, which makes the radial density of fragments higher about 76%.(2) The shape coefficient kshape was calculated based on the conservation of energy, and which was applied to correct Gurney formula, leaded in a better applicability for hex prism warhead. The expression of gain factor and empirical formula of velocity used for eccentric two-point detonation was derivation based on the test data of the literature report; this method shows a less error which was verified by precision analysis and numerical calculation, and it can be used for engineering calculation.(3) The hex prism warhead was simulated on the basis of the above achievements. The feasibility of multi-point synchronous initiation equaled to line r initiation was discussed and a selected basis of initiation number was put forward. Than the differential analysis among various groups was carried on, it`s shown that eccentric mult ipoint initiation can increase the maximum velocity of fragments in the target direction. There are few gains to fragment velocity while the number of ignition points was added. Line multi-points initiation has an effect to increase fragments velocity and the gain of max and average velocity can get the best situation when the initiation line was along with the adjacent 2 edges.In conclusion the advantage of hex prism warhead and eccentric lines initiation was studied and discussed through many aspects in this paper, the data supports and references can be provide for the gains design of amiable warheads.
