The role of reactive power in power distribution network is extremely important. And it will get a minimal impact on distribution network if it can make the supply-demand balance of reactive power.At present, with the increasing amount and type of load, and as well as different size and irregular working time, all these factors together increase the difficulty of the reactive power compensation for distribution network. In order to be able to compensate reactive power in real-time and accurately, this paper has carried out the study of reactive power compensation device.Mainly with comparative analysis, finally we chose to adopt improve IP-IQ current detection algorithm and variable PI regulation parameter control method to design the reactive power compensation device. We also have made some analysis and research about the process of reactive power compensation and result in asymmetric runtime distribution network.The reactive power compensation device development present situation and the research level of domestic and foreign has been given carefully, and then follow on the analysis of distribution network operation parameters and asymmetric three-phase runtime parameter.After analyses of the basic structure and working principle of reactive power compensation, the advantages and disadvantages among the traditional P-Q detection algorithm, IP-IQ detection algorithm and the improved IP-IQ detection algorithm have been discussed and compared separately. And according to the requirements of reactive power compensation in this paper, we took the environment improved IP-IQ testing algorithm into account as our reactive power compensation device current detection algorithm.And at same time the current indirect control and direct control of their respective control ideas and application environment has been analyzed, and then the application of variable parameter PI control strategy apply to direct current control method has been put forward.Using MATLAB simulation software, the simulation model of reactive power compensation device has been designed and built. And on the basis of the commonly used appliances nameplate, the impedance value has been estimated as a simulation model of the equivalent load, and next the simulation analysis was carried out on the design of the model.Based on the improved IP-IQ direct detection algorithm and variable parameter PI current control theory, the simulation model of reactive power compensation devices has been given. And also the analysis of the reactive power compensation in distribution network asymmetric runtime simulation results has been given.At last we have design hardware and software of the control system of reactive power compensation device, and also the real debugging has been carried on.Based on the theory analysis of reactive power compensation device, combining with the analysis of the design model of MATLAB simulation results, for improvement of IP-IQ direct detection algorithm and variable parameter PI current control method of reactive power compensation device, we can draw a conclusion that the reactive power compensation device study in this paper can keep the following performance as quick response, accurate compensation reactive power, increase power factor and the approximate to 1 when it in asymmetric distribution network operation.
