In recent years, as American and European developed countries to the development and revival of modern tram system, many Chinese cities are also actively planning it. Station is the foundation of modern tram system; it is also an important place for passengers in and out, its location is crucial to modern tram operation efficiency and coordination of urban transport system.Starting with the characteristics of modern trams, the experience of station location selection in subway and BRT are compared, the characteristics of modern trams station location selection are analyzed, and using AHP and TOPSIS Evaluation Methods to evaluate the station location selection in modern trams system.First, the developing course of modern trams is analyzed, the definition of modern trams is summarized. Comparing with subway, light rail, bus rapid transit, BRT and bus, the characteristics of modern tram system are summarized, and then the classification of tram stations are introduced.Secondly, the connotation, principles and matters needing attention of station location selection are analyzed. Comparing with the subway and bus rapid transit in terms of station location selection, the features of modern tram are summarized, and the main influence factors on station location selection of modern trams are summarized, such as the population and passengers size, the development planning of surrounding area, technical feasibility, project investment, environmental protection and so on. Of course, many factors are influenced by the tram stations, including pedestrian time, traffic organization, and transfer with other modes of transportation, transfer benefits and so on.At last, establishing a model to evaluate station location selection of modern trams. The coordination with the development of surrounding areas, the coordination with the development of traffic circumstance, technical feasibility, economic benefit and environment benefit,5 criterion layers and 11 evaluation indexes was used to establish the hierarchical structure model and using AHP method to calculate index weight. XiHe station in Chengdu to Jintang modern tram line as an example of the project by using TOPSIS method to evaluate and analysis alternatives, finally, figure out the station location and verify the feasibility of this model.
