Research On Composition Of Traditional Commercial Street Spaces In LHASA City

This study focuses on the relationship between street space elements and behavior, in order to provide sustainable update strategies for traditional commercial streets of Lhasa. On the basis of research about Lhasa religious spaces by domestic scholars,the study uses envi-ronmental behavior relevant theory and foreign mature research methods,such as behavior observation,behavior map,correlation analysis,to complete study on composition of Lhasa traditional commercial street spaces. Summarizing physical elements composition of Lhasa traditional commercial street spaces and characteristics of behavior,finding existing prob-lems and inefficiency,trying to provide sustainable update strategies for future development.The whole research can be completed successfully because of field research,video record,questionnaire interviews for traditional commercial streets in Lhasa in 2015.The study is divided into four parts:Firstly, the history of Lhasa urban development has been conclud-ed. Secondly, spaces composition characteristics of all Lhasa traditional commercial streets have been analyzed, all streets were classified by commercial type of operation and density of shops, meanwhile, elements of all kinds of street spaces were summarized.Thirdly,on this basis, the relationship between space and behavior was successfully established, and spatial behavior characteristics was pretended clearly.Finally, spatial behavior characteristics, space-behavior relationship reflects the space existing problems, then for the improvement of the traditional commercial street spaces, sustainable update strategies were provided based on history of Lhasa city.This study emphasizes the close ties between space and behavior, respects for tradi-tional culture, explores the local business model, and provides sustainable update strategies based on behavior, tries to realize the continuation of the traditional culture of Lhasa.In addi-tion, the research has important social significance to Lhasa cultural heritage,the design of modern city and traditional blocks of modern development.
