"People" is playing a more and more important role in the architectural design. The architectural design not only need to get the arrangement of function done, it should also take the user’s feelings of experience into account. The development of psychology and environmental behavior science implies that the trace about people’s behavior patterns and psychological needs model could be found. In the other hand, people cannot escape from the "space". Wherever he is, he is in some space. And the architects are the ones who design space. In some way, architects own the rights to influence the users’ psychological and behavioral experience. This article is trying to find out spatial design strategies corresponding the human behavior patterns and psychological needs through the research and analysis of the relationship between the human behavior patterns, psychological needs and the environment. Specifically we analyze different types of behavior in teaching building space, the user’s different psychological needs, including hierarchical, privacy, publicity, culturality. Based on the research and analysis, a series of design methods are found in the space design, such as setting the space sequence, using the barrier flexibly, setting up the multiple space, and determining the spatial scale for the comfortable distance. Finally we take the building of science and Engineering in Zhongbei college of Nanjing Normal University as example. And the series of design methods found in the space design through previous research and analysis are applied to the design of building including the design of the three courtyards, one chamber side of the court, and the combination furniture of one classroom, trying to explain how the design responds to human behavior patterns and psychological needs.
