Research On The Vehicle Seat Design Based On Human Engineering

Cars have become indispensable means of transportation in people’s daily lives. The goal of the modern automotive industry is to design highly secure and comfortable vehicles with great energy efficiency. The design of automobile seats is critical because it is the main contact area between the passenger and vehicle, so that the driving experience is directly linked to the comfortability of the seat. In this thesis, research on the design of automobile seats is carried out based on human "engineering.Currently, the development process of seats is unified worldwide, and both the Western and the Chinese car seat suppliers refer to the same human body model according to the Western body measurement. So it is important to have the Chinese body model for car development and the seat design for the Chinese market. In order to provide more customized car seats for the Chinese market, it is imperative to develop and acquire accurate parameters of the Chinese body model and then design car seats accordingly.In this thesis, the Chinese body model is analyzed and set up, and several methods of determining key parameters for the safety and comfortability of car seats are analyzed and proposed. Complying with all safety requirements as the first step, then the adjustment of the static parameters and the maximization of comfortability for car seats based on the Chinese body measurements are carried out. Moreover, dynamic parameters such as the human body-driver car seat five degrees of freedom model are analyzed and evaluated.The result of this thesis can provide data and parameters based on the Chinese body measurements to design car seats optimized for the Chinese market with enhanced comfortability features--reduced vibrations and shocks while maintaining a high standard of safety. Applying these theoretical findings to the design and production of car seats in China, Chinese car drivers will have a safer and more comfortable driving experience.
