With the development of rail transit in our country, especially the rapid development of new high-speed railway and old railway high-speed reconstruction in China, the traditional trains exist some lateral dynamics problems, like poor in operation stability and curving performance when operate on curving with small radius because of the difficulty of old railway high-speed reconstruction. Now the method to keep the high-speed trains in excellent dynamics performance is to keep the track regularity in a high standard. The method costs huge track maintenance charge and leads to huge maintenance workload. So the new technology and innovate in structure must be taken in railway vehicle design and manufacture to improve the railway vehicle lateral dynamics performance.To solve the problems above, based on the study of the magnetic fluid damper, an innovative semi-active primary suspension system and semi-active secondary suspension system are established to improve the curving performance and the ride comfort.Firstly, this paper proposed the magnetic fluid damper forward model and inverse control model based on Dahl model which can accurately describe the non-linear performance of magnetic fluid damper and take effective control. Secondly, an innovative semi-active suspension systems based on magnetic fluid damper and three control strategies are proposed after the study of principle of vehicle curving. Thirdly, the SIMPACK-Simulink co-simulations are built to take series simulations for proposed semi-active suspension systems. From the results of the simulations, the semi-active primary suspension system proposed in this paper can improve the curving performance as well as the stability significantly; the semi-active secondary suspension system proposed in this papers can improve the ride comfort and absorb the lateral vibration as well as well curving performance significantly.The semi-active suspension technology which is studied in this paper contains significant research value for the development of innovative suspension in China. This technology can applied on the high-speed reconstructions of old railway, so it can help to save huge money during reconstructed railway operation and maintenance which is significant in society and economy.
