Civil engineering structure has been faced with the safety threat under the action ofearthquake, wind and other dynamic loads, the theory of vibration control can be used toreduce the dynamic response of the structure and avoid structure damage. Compared withactive vibration control, semi-active vibration control, especially the semi-active controldevice using magnetorheological fluid or other intelligent materials, needs less energyinput, but the control effect is almost close to that of the active vibration control, whichattracts great favour of the researchers; In addition, the numerical simulation of thevibration control system has been an active field.This paper first introduces the basic principle of structural vibration control, thecommonly used control algorithm, the mechanical model of magnetorheological damperand and the Benchmark problem. Then taking the76story reinforced concreteBenchmark model as an example, by using MATLAB, and SIMULINK modeling, thispaper analyzed systematically the dynamic response of the models under the conditionsas below: primary model without control, model with active controller (LQR controlalgorithm), model adopted the magnetorheological fluid damper(simple Bang-Bangcontrol algorithm, optimum Bang-Bang control algorithm, limited Hrovat optimumcontrol algorithm, the fuzzy control algorithm) when the earthquake waves are El Centrowave, Kobe wave and Northridge wave, then compared the control effect of differentcontrol algorithms. Finally, comprehensive using the MATLAB graphical user interface(GUI) tool, making a GUI design, the autor independently developed the program system,named SEMACTCONsystem, which can be used in the structural vibration simulationanalysis of semi-active control system.The MATLAB language, SIMULINK tool box and GUI tool were comprehensivelyused in this paper to study the structural vibration of semi-active control thoroughly. Thenthe simulation analysis process was integrated into a visualization programming system,which can provide a convenient tool and platform for the further study of the numericalsimulation issues of structural vibration control system.
