Two sets of hydraulic generator sets of Simulating hydroelectric power station in our school can demonstrate the hydraulic turbine generating unit. As an experimental uipment, the simulation system can be used for many kinds of hydraulic power generation and operation experiments, There are many problems in the aspect of application, such as, comprehensive experiment, course design and graduation design. In order to cope with “energy and power engineering”, “electrical engineering” and the power engineering master major direction. Excitation regulator and its interface section,namely excitation regulating system, is expanded, excitation control system of PLC is designed and the test is carries on. the main research contributions are as follows:1. the basic structure of excitation control system is analyzed, the type of hardware is select according to the requirements of experiment, pulse circuit board is designed, the self-assembly of hardware is finished.2. The modular design method is adopted in the course of software design,according to the different function, system program is divided into several big modules,the modify is more convenient.3. The MCGS configuration software is used as man-machine interface, the simulation images, system parameters, operation mode, etc., which make the system more image, intuitive operation.4. The dynamic model experiments verify mathematical model is correct, and the system parameters are preset. the phenomenon of overshoot is prevented, which reduce the risk of accidents of experiment process.Experimental results show that the PLC excitation control system can control the simulation of hydraulic generator set, step response, load shedding and inverter, and can design the core control circuit, write program, set up its own control system. the requirement of design has been reached.
