The Historical Style And Feature Protection And Improvement Methods Analysis Of Qingdao Signal Hill Block Under The View Of Urban Morphology

After the concept of “state-list famous historical and culture cities” was mentioned by China in 1980’s, the protection of historical block became a highly regarded topic. Under the frame of our current historical and cultural cities protection regulation, traditional historical block analysis usually only takes care of the single building, and protects it by different category by evaluating its historical value. Even though the historical building gets protection by this method, meanwhile the building would be separated from its nearby geographical environment somehow. It actually neglect the protection of those cities with less historical and cultural values.City scape is a corporeal spatial form. As the city developing, the natural and man-made environment have been doing combined actions for a long time which causes the city scape. It’s an important characteristic that makes a city distinct from others. This analysis takes the view of Urban Morphology, and selects Qingdao Signal hill block as the object of study. It studies protecting and renovating the historical features of the block and meanwhile protecting historical buildings. The points of Urban Morphology have significant differences with Chinese national conditions.Based on the principle of “seeking common points while reserving few differences”,the study uses fields analyzing method and city features management method as main research methods. By field reviewing, field researching, and practical application these three parts, the report deeply researches the protecting and renovating strategy of Qingdao Signal hill historical features.This article has five main chapters. The first chapter is the introduction part. It will introduce the research background and content, clarify the meaning and innovation point of the study, and show the analyzing methods and frame. The second chapter is a review of the Urban Morphology theory. It starts from the result and the development of the theory, and takes a look back at the main achievements and related concepts of the theory. It will point out how the theory is developing in China and being used in this research, and provide theoretical basis for the following analysis. The third chapter is the Urban Morphology research of the features evolutionof Signal hill block. After analyzing the evolution process of historical block features,by analyzing the Urban Form Complexes of the block, concluding the historical feature characters of the Signal hill block. The forth chapter is to design a feature protection plan of the Signal hill block based on the Urban Morphology theory. It picks the most “sensitive” part of the block historical culture resources, divides the morphogenetic fields by combining the three factors: town plans, building forms, and land-use patterns, and makes features protecting suggestions to different morphogenetic fields. In the fifth chapter, by solving the conflict problem of new and old housing features, integrates the rooftop features and develops the vertical design style of modern time multi-floor housing units, therefore achieves the aim of features coordinated.
