This article was set in the design and application of Zigbee intelligence water meters, in which the main reason of the project establishment was presented based on the research and analysis of the device. Compromising the technology of sensors, wireless communication and data analysis which was applicable in intelligence water meters, the development concept of intellectual control was brought up combining with wireless Zigbee communication network and mono-chip computers. The intelligence water meter system leads toa new direction of the modern water meter development and can be able to implement the application in data collection, processing, fusion and communication. In this project, the Zigbee technology was used in the information exchange as the protocol standards for data transmission.The design and development of intelligence water meters was the main line of this paper, in which the design of hardware and software package of the system was illustrated in details. The mono-chip computers functioned with communication ability served as the core part of the whole intellectual system. In addition, the Zigbee protocols layered in physical aspect and MAC were researched in this article, as well as the Zigbee network structure. Then the design of Zigbee wireless communication network was emphasizedly discussed as per the overall design of intelligence water meters.The design project was conducted mainly based on the electrical circuit of Zigbee intelligence water meter. Centered on CC2430, some of the substantial applications include control of LCD and solenoid valves, protection of secured circuit, communication and transmission, and supervision of the water meters. Each and every module was researched and discussed comprehensively concerning circuit design, LED module and operation principals of Zigbee module.During the design of the software package, Zigbee wireless communication module played one of the substantial roles. The IAR Embedded Workbench IDE was served as the development platform. And C language was applied to compile and debug the programs, which involved with the inferior optimization of certain chips so as to take full advantage of the selected chips and eventually assure the smaller amount of code. After completing the software design of all the modules, a test run was then undertaken on the whole system.
