Along with the development of transportation industry, the number of large steel bridge is constantly increasing. During the using of of steel bridge,because of its factors and environmental impact, the pavement appeared a series of problems. The large deformation, poor ventilation and inadequate mixture performance are the major causes of diseases there. The steel deck pavement materials into three categories:pouring asphalt mixture, epoxy asphalt mixture and stone mastic asphalt. The disadvantages of pouring asphalt mixture were poor high-temperature stability and high mixing temperature. The technology of epoxy asphalt mixture was complex, high unit cost and long time maintenance. Thus, the paper select sand type asphalt mateix mixture as pavement materials. At the same time, we develp a high viscosity asphalt can precent the occurrence of diseases.This article develp a high viscosity asphalt of large steel bridge deck pavement layer by added polytype modifier agent, and compare with several common modified asphalt. We designed the sand type asphalt mateix mixture for the high viscosity asphalt. And study the pavement performance and mechanical properties of mixture, which include high-temperature stability, low-temperature anti-cracking performance, fatigue resistance, water stability, shearing strength and dynamic modulus. The experimental result was compared with epoxy asphalt mixture and the difference between them was compared. Then, this article invented bonding layer asphalt on the base of pavement asphalt. The optimal sprinkle quantity was determined by shear test and pullout test. The performance of bongding layer asphalt was studied by the freeze-thaw splitting test and the shear fatigue test, and compared with epoxy asphalt. Finally, by paving a test road, verified the actual effect of the high viscosity asphalt mixture.Specific research conclusions are as follows:The high viscosity asphalt show excellent performance base on penetration grade and PG grade, and the results of experimental revealed that the performance of the high viscosity is superior to SBS asphalt.The pavement performance and mechanical properties of high viscosity asphalt matrix mixture has outstanding performance. Compared with epoxy asphalt mixture, it has achieved advanced level in project cost, maintenance and suitability.The optimal sprinkle quantity of bongding layer asphalt was determined from 1.5kg/m2 to 1.8kg/m2Using effect of the pavement materials is good, by paving the test section of Jinan Yellow River Bridge.Up to now, there is no obvious disease.
