Study On Forms Of Big Cities Spatial Layout Based On Compact City

200 years of industrialization greatly promoted the development of human society, but also it led to resource shortage, environmental pollution, traffic congestion and urban sprawl, and other urban problems. "People stay in the city for a better life" (Aristotle), but the sustainable development of the city is facing a great challenge. As a widely accepted theory of sustainable development in western countries, the theory of the compact city has shown a way of the sustainable development of cities. In the process of rapid urbanization, the accumulated problems of large cities in terms of land, transport, ecology and spatial structure have become more serious. In the background of new urbanization, facing the situation of land resource shortage, compact city theory has influenced spatial patterns of big cities from perspectives of urban density, spatial structure, public transport, functional layout and growth boundaries. The theory not only provide construction approach for reforming and development of large cities, but also provide a reference for preventing unreasonable trends on the big cities in the rapid urbanization process, and the timely adjustment of metropolitan spatial development strategy. This paper takes Jinan as a case study, concentrating on the issues of urban spatial form. Starting from compact city theory, this paper optimized urban space arrangement forms and made exploration on the sustainable development of Jinan in the aspects of remained land, spatial structure, public transport and the ecological space. The main contents of the following four aspects:The first part (Chapter 1、2):To arrange the theories and cases of compact city and urban spatial pattern, and to illustrate the applicability of the compact city theory in the content of urban high-density living environment, providing the basis for the study of the mechanism and planning approach of spatial arrangement forms of Chinese big cities.The second part (Chapter 3):based on the analysis of the features of the type I big city, such as high dependence and strong expansion, this part arranged the current issues of urban spatial form, discussed the five factors, and made thorough analysis.The third part (Chapter 4):By analyzing the impact and mechanism of the compact city theory on the spatial form of big cities, this part explores construction methods of compact spatial form of big cities’ morphology.The fourth part (Chapter 5):this part analyzes the three evolution of the spatial forms of Jinan city, applies the theory of compact city in the study on the spatial form of Jinan and makes relevant recommendations and strategies to optimize.
