Using Zen Spirit In The Spatial Design Of Buddhism Temple Garden In The South Of The Yangtze River

Zen spirit spatial design is an essential part for the Buddhism temple garden in the south of the Yangtze River area. Several temple gardens here were discussed about the theme construction, spatial artistic conception, and building progress of the gardens. Based on investigation, we stated that the Zen spirit had four categories in spatial design of the temple gardens. The four Zen spirit spatial designs are the Buddhism practice, humanization, pilgrimage and commemoration, and both of them have their special features. We choose the Qianfo Yan landscape to explain how to combine the theme settings and spatial form of the landscape in the Zen spirit spatial design. Our research show that the Zen spirit is the core content in Buddhism temple gardens in the south of the Yangtze River and is used in almost every temple garden design in Jiangnan area.The research paper has 5 sections:1. We discuss the research contexts and research conditions, and explain the content and fraction of the research;2. The present situation is surveyed and collected for Buddhism temple gardens in the south of the Yangtze River. Based on the investigation, we gather the different kinds of Zen spirit in the Buddhism temple gardens and analyze the development of different Zen spirit.3. We analyze the landscape design elements and space form for the different expression Zen spirit in the Buddhism temple garden in the south of the Yangtze River through the example of our investigation. Moreover, the method is analyzed that how to do the Zen spirit in garden design.4. We discuss the Zen spirit application in Qianfo Yan landscape design in Nanjing, and find that it is pushed from theme setting, spatial form distribution to expression of the main artistic conception.5. We conclude that the Zen spirit is not only an crucial constitute part of China Buddhism culture, but also an core artistic expression of the Buddhism temple garden in the south of the Yangtze River. The Buddhism is not only part of religions, but also a core culture for traditional China. Moreover, the expression of the Zen spirit coincides with the wonderful landscape and culture in Jiangnan area results that it becomes a main channel for the landscape design. Coming to the conclusion, The Zen spirit spatial design is the soul for both the Buddhism temples and the architecture culture in Jiangnan area.
