After a long time of natural evolution and experience accumulation, China’s ancient buildings had gradually formed a unique architectural system and won distinct aesthetic features. Along with the replacement of different dynasties, ancient buildings of China had experienced a constant change in their architectural features, from contour to the spatial structure and then decoration of details. With diverse and rich forms, these ancient buildings are eye-catching and admirable. Buildings in the Jin Dynasty have distinct features of blending different ethnic cultures. Their remains are mostly temples which constitute an important part of research on ancient architecture in China. Amitabha Hall in Chongfu Monastery of Shuozhou is a large extant architecture of the Jin Dynasty in China. In this paper, the overall spatial layout of Chongfu Monastery as an ancient architecture blending the Han Culture with the Liao and Jin Culture is analyzed to decompose and summarize the layout, spatial structure and decorative artistic features of two buildings of Jin Dynasty, so as to make an in-depth study of architectural features of buildings in Jin Dynasty.Firstly, research background and relevant research achievements are introduced, and the research scope is identified. Secondly, architectural shape and forms of temple buildings in China are collated, on the basis of integrating historical background of emergency of temple buildings with the Liao and Jin culture and regional features of North China, Chongfu Monastery in Shuozhou, Shanxi Province is taken as the research object. The overall architectural shape and structure of the monastery is analyzed, and buildings of the Jin Dynasty in the temple are introduced, so as to lay a foundation for exploring artistic features of buildings of the Jin Dynasty. Thirdly, a multi-aspect analysis is made of architectural features of two buildings of the Jin Dynasty including Amitabha Hall as the main hall and Avalokitesvara Hall as the side hall of Chongfu Monastery. Moreover, a brief comparison is made of architectural features of original buildings in the Jin Dynasty and reconstruction buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasty, so as to summarize architectural features of the Jin buildings in terms of their construction technology and decorative art. Lastly, on the basis of studying architectural features of the Jin buildings and focusing on ancient buildings, the author figures out great historical, cultural and artistic values of Chongfu Monastery. Recommendations are proposed to invest more efforts to protect, inherit and improve the comprehensive competitiveness of Chongfu Monastery and learn to absorb spiritual wealth implied in ancient buildings.Chongfu Monastery, as one of three famous temple built in the Liao and Jin Dynasty in China, is a gift of history, essence of historical relics, crystallization of wisdom and creativity of the Chinese people, and a product of ethnic cultural diversity in China, occupying an important position in the Chinese architectural history and religious culture in the Yanbei region. We have the responsibility to inherit this architectural art, and take it as a basis and guidance for the modern architectural decorative art, so as to constantly learn and spread ethnic cultures of China.
