Currently China mainly adopts hot mix and pave process, because the pavement performance of hot mix asphalt mixture is favorable. However, when it is producing and constructing, it will discharge larges of harmful gases and dusts which could pollute the environment severely. The introduction of warm mix foam asphalt technology can solve the problem which is conventional hot mix asphalt mixture highly pollution and much energy consumption. Adopting warm mix foam asphalt technology can reduce mixing temperature of mixture by 20~30 ℃, effectively reducing harmful gases and dusts emission, improving construction condition, and reducing the energy consumption during the production; otherwise, it can minish asphalt binder aging in the production process, developing and improving pavement performance of asphalt mixture.Comparing with other warm mix technologies, warm mix foam asphalt technology does not need addictives, so it can save construction cost within extremely economical benefits and social environmental protection benefits. Firstly we make a research of laboratory test for pavement technical performance of warm mix foam asphalt mixture and determine optimal foaming condition of asphalt; we analyze characteristics of compaction and mixing for warm mix foam asphalt mixture; we validate and evaluate the performance of high temperature and low temperature and water stability for warm mix foam asphalt mixture, and put forward with performance variation regulations and evaluation methods. Considering the existing production equipment, we address warm mix process of batch-type foam asphalt by adding batch-type asphalt foaming equipment.We put forward with the construction process and quality control standard of warm mix foam asphalt mixture, evaluating the energy saving and environmental protection benefits of this technology. Results show that warm mix foam asphalt technology is feasible broadly, and we can adopt process to construct using common asphalt, modified asphalt. Technical indicators adopting warm mix foam asphalt technology for various asphalt mixture are able to meet with technical requirements of hot mix mixture in<Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements >(JTG F40-2004). Adopting warm mix technology reduces production cost of asphalt mixture by 7.5yuan per ton,and energy saving rate is as high as30% approximately.
