At the end of twentieth Century, the global design has entered a new stage of development. Compared to the previous design which just consider modelling design and function design of products, product design had to consider the human’s feelings. People wish to increase emotional needs in the product design. In the future, product design will be designed to be consumer-oriented. In this age of the " Kansei consumption", the meaning of the car is not only a kind of transport, people hope to obtain their self-satisfied and the cheery using expression. The Automobile manufacturers should be recognized the importance of the consumer’s psychological demands, emotion is attached to the car design, stimulated the consumers to buy the cars. And it makes the car standing out from the design and production of numerous consumer’s choice.In this background,this thesis studies on the car design methods of urban electric vehicles based on Kansei Engineering, and analyze their application and its unique advantages in the modern design methods. Inductive method of measurement and quantification of Kansei Engineering study after study on automotive styling imagery, automotive styling feature Discrimination relationship between imagery and styling, auto major styling feature extraction based on principle, from the perspective of each of the major features of the car’s styling conduct the extraction. The experimental samples extracted emotional vocabulary. Organize and improve the application of Kansei Engineering for process automotive styling study. Then this paper studies the process of constructing perceptual imagery city electric car side moldings were studied, based on qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results of the experimental data, analyze the relationship between emotional imagery and design elements, the establishment of various design elements and used to calculate sensual imagery relevance, elements of the design elements of the score of the mathematical model. Using this mathematical model summarizes the city electric car design tools and methods, and ultimately guide the design of the case.
