The rural area of our country is accelerated in development recent years.From the point of view of the level of the physical environment, on one hand it promotes the living environment in rural areas to approach the modern living standard, on the other hand it also brings destruction to the original traditional vernacular architecture system and the simple living environment of the rural area.The conflict in Huizhou area is very obvious, and it’s the pain with the renewal of the development of the residence in this area.But the traditional academic research investment in this field is still very weak.Under this background, the selection of the conversion program and the social power leading the process of construction and renewal is critical, it’s also the problem of the mode of vernacular house renewal development.Through the study of the role of the masses, the local government and external social forces, can define the top-down and bottom-up two major vernacular house development and renewal mode.In this paper’s research and writing, pay attention to the influence of the two different kind of renewal mode of development to Huizhou vernacular house on the level of construction.Through field investigation and theoretical comparison and analysis, we can see that in the current stage of social development: the bottom-up approach is a renewal and development way which is more sensitive to the realistic social environment conditions, show more the influence of personal will to the renewal and development.Which includes not only the demand of freedom, but also contains the restriction and the disciplinary of society rules, built houses with rich life information, show more regional property, hard to synchronize the modern infrastructure; the top-down approach is a development mode vulnerable to macroeconomic policy and environment’s influence, easy to cause the lack of feedback of details of life, the houses’ prototype sources and technological measures are limited by the main trend of the society, the construction of infrastructure facilities are in good condition.Through the analysis to the problems in the construction level Huizhou area’s vernacular house development and renewal faced, put forward the standard of selection at the residential level, cultural level, academic practice level. According to the standard for comparative study, we can draw a conclusion: at the present stage the advantages of top-down renewal and development mode are its standardization technology and close to the modern standard of living which is attractive to the villagers, and also have the advantages of other renewal and development mode incomparable in traditional vernacular architecture heritage protection. The bottom-up renewal and development mode’s advantage lies in its flexibility and linked closely to real life, from a long-term point of view, the renewal and development mode of bottom-up is also more susceptible to developing a life and culture suit the architecture and environment; in academic fields, development should adapt to the big trend to release the energy and knowledge accumulated in the research process reasonably, and participate in the practice of vernacular house construction.Based on the above research, put forward the development should be a consideration of the global, at the same time to adapt to the specific environment to renovate and develop. At the same time, strengthen different levels of scholars to participate in the Huizhou residences updating and developing activities in a proper way.
