There is a scarcity of the land resources in large and intermediate China cities. With the comprehensive development of underground spaces, which is mainly used for underground metro system, the efficiency of underground space use around the metro stations has been a key to enlarge the city space. Thereby it is an urgent demand to scientifically explore the station selection and layout. As a typical city with stressed by the lack of land resource in Asia, relying on the well-developed urban rail system, Hong Kong has developed numerous underground space around metro stations. The scientific layout and the good use of the underground space are worth being learned by other Asian cities. The aim of this paper is to discuss the characteristics of geographical distribution and spatial organization in Hong Kong, and to explore the factors resulting these characteristics such that to provide the references for Chinese Mainland. This paper follows the way of “theoretical research, characteristic summarization, and model extraction”, in the use of logical derivation and demonstration. Firstly in combination of concepts of urban space, underground space and etc., this paper is to build up the basic concept o f the underground public space around the subway station.Secondly, it is going to tease the theoretical research in and out of China, therefor to determine the factors that influence the underground public space layout. Finally, through studying Hong Kong Metro Station domain Characteristics of the development scale, functional composition, spatial arrangement, finding out the Space organization mode type. The discussion on the characteristics of station selection and spatial layout as well as the influencing factors, is extraordinary meaningful to take full advantage of the public underground space to realize the sustainable in China.
