Nowadays, more and more cars use ECU(Electronic Control Unit). Then the reliability of the ECU directly affects the safety performance and power performance of the vehicle. We could find its shortcomings through the functional testing of ECU, which will help to improve the quality and reliability of ECU. It is difficult to adapt to the update speed of auto electronic products if designing a dedicated test system for a specific type of ECU, and the test equipment will be soon eliminated, which resulted in a waste of equipment development costs. With the advent and rapid development of virtual instrument technology, PXI bus technology and flexible testing technology, making developing automatic test systems adapt to different ECU become possible.This thesis utilized flexible testing technology-related concepts, developing a flexible test system for automotive ECU based on virtual instrument technology and PXI bus technology. This test system implemented flexibility by focusing research on integrated design, test interface device design, modular and layered software architecture design. That is when the ECU under test changed, the test system can quickly and cost-effectively adapt to new test requirements.This thesis firstly analyzed the ECU testing requirements. In order to improve the flexibility and scalability of the system, testing tasks are divided into connectivity testing, pull-up / pull-down resistor testing, power-on testing, output leakage current testing, communication testing, input signal testing, output signal testing, diagnostic testing, etc. And then, the selection and integrating design of hardware resources for testing system was implemented, which emphasizes research on VPC G18 test interface module and electronic load module designing.Secondly, this thesis uses modular layered software architecture for designing automotive ECU flexible test system. Test software is divided into the user management layer, testing sequence level, device driver layer and module I/O interface layer. The combination of Lab VIEW and Test Stand was adapted for testing system software design which focuses on the configuration and customization of Test Stand to build test sequences in Test Stand, design Lab VIEW user management software design and modular code design.Finally, through study on resolution, stability, bias, linearity, repeatability, reproducibility, the analysis and evaluation of automotive ECU flexible testing system integrated hardware and software was implied to guarantee stability and reliability of the system.
