With the improvement of building energy efficiency and the promotion fo Green-Architecture, the application of building external wall thermal insulation has been widespread. With the building codes having become increasingly demanding energy-saving rate, building external wall thermal insulation technology has ushered in new challenges.Firstly, the effect of a technology in one place is quite good, to another place may not be able to have the same effect, For example, some shade Technology with high-end shade product in the subtropical region can play an immediate effect, but to Chongqing, whether it is still able to be promoted;Secondly, in the past, for the building external wall thermal insulation technology evaluation, only to evaluate the energy saving rate in the operational phase, did not consider a life-cycle perspective;At last, the selection of exterior wall thermal insulation system should be combined with the architecture type.The paper is based on these considerations, first of all, by researching the life cycle theory, eatablished the the typical external wall thermal insulation life cycle CO2 emmisons model.And then the types and amounts of CO2 emission is calculated and researched in each stage of life cycle.At last, life cycle CO2 emissions of t typical external wall thermal insulation of building in Chongqing area is got by case analysis.By anysis of the external wall thermal insulation system CO2 emission source and the proportion of different stages of the life cycle, found that the production and useage account for larger proportion.There is a big difference in each thermal insulation material on the CO2 emissions proportion of obtain the phase raw material and production processing stage, so reducing the thermal insulation material production CO2 emissions need to be targeted, and increase the use of recycled materials will significantly reduce thermal insulation material production stage CO2 emissions.On the case analysis, as the "from cradle to grave is used the most commonly presently,so choose it as the system boundary, the CO2 emissions of autoclaved aerated concrete block and polyurethane insulation board is the most small, and the CO2 emission reduction effect of residential building of is better than that of commercial buildings. Boundary conditions in different life cycle system life cycle of exterior wall thermal insulation system of CO2 emission characteristics are different, the result is not comparable, scientific definition of heat preservation system life cycle is very necessary.
