The Design Art Research Of The Grottoes In Bashu Area

Cave temple,which is one type of the religious architectures, is one special type of art mixed with religious culture, regional culture, sculpture, painting, calligraphy and so on. In addition to all of these, the cave temples in bashu area have another characteristic:Ingeniously designed.The cave temples in bashu area have profound causes and development background include culture, politics, economy and garden design. Design techniques of the bashu grottoes are distinctive because of elaborate site selection and layout, ethical design of statues, combination of artificial work and natural scene. Interwoven with idea and emotion of the builder, the bashu grottoes are characteristic. The design concept of the cave temples includes four aspects: “concrete state” concerned with social and politics, “abstract state” concerned with religious, “artistic state” concerned with literary and esthetics, “law state” concerned with philosophyThis article focus on the grottoes statues in bashu area. By analysis the art feature especially the garden art feature, the author try to recognize the design techniques and design concepts of the cave temples in bashu area and the regional characters of them and find the differences from the cave temples in other area.
