After the development for more than 100 years, vehicle technology has entered the intelligent age. Today’s automotive technology has already incorporated communications, computers, power electronics and control technology. In addition, new methods for controlling have been applied to the smart car. Efficient technology for automotive transmission system has become one of the focuses in the study of vehicles technology. Automatic shift technology can effectively improve the driving comfort, safety, vehicle power performance and fuel economy, so the research for automatic shift technology has important practical significance. AMT(automated mechanical transmission is electronically controlled), which has a series of advantage, for instant, high transmission efficiency, simple structure, low cost, the production characteristics of inheritance, is suitable for our country as the development direction of automobile transmission system.The topic of this article selected from the practical engineering projects; based on the research of the current situation of AMT transmission and the automatic shift technology, we take the automatic shifting controlling system as the researching target, analysis the strategy of the shifting process and show a design of hardware and software for an AMT transmission.Firstly this article introduce the physical structure of the AMT automatic shift system and power transmission principle, and then analysis the controller target involved in the shifting process. Via setting up the optimum shifting points, a shifting logic is established. Dynamic simulation models for the vehicle are established by software such as using MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow——where the test vehicle’s real data is put in. this article validate the simulation system and the consistency of the dynamic model by simulation result.The electric controlling part has carried on the research progress of the study on the design, which is the implementation of intelligent control carrier. For realizing the accuracy in controlling, aiming at shorten the shifting time and improve the vehicle’s ride quality, hardware and software of the TCU(Transmission Controller Unit) is designed. Select Infineon Company’s TC1724 type single-chip microcomputer as MCU(Micro Controller Unit). In this paper, the main parts’ software program are designed.
