Urban public space is essential outdoor activity space for the urban residents, good urban public space thermal environment quality is the prerequisite to ensure the city’s quality and environment. The landscape architecture ’ s core content and the basic mission are to create outdoor space and harmonize the relationship between human and nature. How to use landscape design elements to design could furthest slow the environmental impact from the transformation of the urban landscape, even to improve the environment and the quality, which will be the landscape industry research’s hot spot and the main responsibility.At present, in Beijing, Shanghai and other cities, the research on microclimate of urban public space water regulating effect has been in the domestic leading position.However, the climatic differences led to the water microclimate effect studies can’t be adopted in all parts of the country in general. Under the climatic conditions of Xi’an, the study on microclimate effects of artificial water is absent. The type of artificial landscape water will be the breakthrough point, the research content is the improvement effect from the different types of water landscape to the public space thermal comfort,analyzed and discussed the local climate characteristics, the user’s physiological needs,the artificial water body microclimate effect by using the method of theoretical research,experimental study.First of all, the paper sorts the Xi’an outdoor environmental conditions and human comfort index and uncomfortable factor in every month of the year, as a goal forregulating Xi’an urban outdoor thermal environment. Then defined the microclimate effect of water body, and analyzed the microclimate effect of water body ’ s basic principle and the influence of water microclimate effect factors.Secondly, this paper selects Xi’an typical urban public space--North Square of big wild goose pagoda, the big wild goose pagoda Dongyuan and Tang Ci en Temple Ruins Park as the measured sample, quantitative analyzed the effects of urban public space’s air temperature, land surface temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and other climate factors affected by the waterscape’s form and shape index,(area and depth), to sum up the relationship between the waterscape ’ s form and shape index and the microclimate effects.At the end, this paper combined the Xi’an city public space water microclimate effects measured results and user’s subjective questionnaire survey to investigate the Xi’an city public space thermal environment preference, from the three factors of climate, physiological, psychological, comprehensively analyzed of the users ’preference for Xi’an city public space landscape water thermal comfort, and summarized the climate adaptability design strategies of Xi’an urban public space’s landscape water that already has been built.This paper provides the data support and theoretical basis for Xi’an city public space landscape water thermal environment improvement, which can be used as the feasibility reference of landscape architecture climate design theory.
