Research On The Function Optimization And Culture Inheritance In The Historical Community Of Manchuanguan Town

In the process of high-speed urbanization in China, many traditional features and cultural function of historical towns were destroyed seriously, ManChuanGuan town was one example. The town had a profound cultural background and beautiful natural landscape. But due to the insufficient knowledge of local residents to its value and wrong protection methods, it lead to the destruction of space environment function in the historical community and the lost of traditional culture.This topic came from “Twelfth five year plan” national science and technology support program—research and demonstration of community function promote in northwest area historical and cultural towns and villages.This article is based on environment creation approaches of traditional Chinese urban residential and the current protection methods of historical towns and blocks. The historical community of ManChuanGuan town was treated as the research object. On the basis of thorough investigation and study, integrated use of urban and rural planning, architecture, landscape architecture, sociology and other multi-disciplinary theories and methods, the protection value and current problems of the historical community of ManChuanGuan town were analyzed. The function optimization and the strategy method of cultural inheritance were also studied.The historical evolution and present situation of the historical community of ManChuanGuan town were investigated and studied in this article. Its protection value and present problems were also analyzed. Secondly, in allusion to the problems of space structure, architectural style and environment landscape of historical community in ManChuanGuan town, the further study of the historical community, similar cases analysis, and integration strategy proposal were carried on. Besides, cultural function, cultural space and the connotation of cultural heritage in the historical community of ManChuanGuan town were analyzed. Cultural heritage and space activation methods of historical community were discussed. Finally, on the basis of the former study, the experimental study of function optimization and culture inheritance in historical community were carried out. Renovation design of town central square were proposed in the end.According to the material and non-material cultural research of the historical community of ManChuanGuan town, function optimization and the strategy of cultural inheritance were proposed. It aimed to properly handle the relationship between protection and development of historical community. Its space characteristics will be optimized. The history value will be well preserved. Cultural connotation will be manifested. As a sequence to promote the living environment quality and tourism value, and a realization of comprehensive optimization and sustainable development of the ancient town. This example will be spread to other similar ancient towns of this area, which providing references to other ancient towns as well.
