The traditional hot mix asphalt has been widely used in road engineering construction, with its higher temperature, which releases a lot of dust and harmful gases such as CO2 in the construction process, resulting in environmental pollut ion and health hazard. Warm mix asphalt is a new material which can reduce the mixing and compaction temperature through adding the warm mix agent in asphalt mixture and its road performance was not declined. Because the construction temperature of warm mix asphalt is relatively low, so it can reduce the amount of harmful gas emissions and has a good effect of environmental protection.The research is to provide certain theoretical guidance for the construction of warm mix asphalt mixture in midwest. And recommend appropriate warm mix agent in Midwest regions. The warm mix agent about viscosity-reducer RH and surface active JY-W1 is researched and conclusion is as follows:Adding the RH warm mix agent can effectively reduce the viscosity of SBS modified asphalt, the softening point and equivalent softening point of the SBS modified asphalt were respectively increased by 5.8% and 0.6%, the results showed that the RH warm mix agent improved the high temperature performance of asphalt; at the same time, the ductility of SBS modified asphalt was increased by 52.4%, equivalent brittle point was decreased by 4.7, the results showed that the RH warm mix agent improved the low temperature performance of asphalt. Adding the JY-W1 warm mix agent, softening point and equivalent softening point of SBS asphalt were increased by 9.8% and 2.0%, the results showed that the JY-W1 warm mix agent improved the high temperature performance of asphalt; at the same time, the ductility of SBS asphalt was increased by 12.6%, equivalent brittle point was decreased by 4.0%, indicating JY-W1 warm mix agent was good for low temperature performance of asphalt.With the control target of Marshall standard specimen porosity, mixing and compaction temperature of RH warm mix asphalt were respectively determined by 155℃ and 145℃ in the premise of the same degree of compaction as hot mix asphalt concrete, and the mixing and compaction temperature of JY-W1 warm mix asphalt were respectively 152℃ and 142℃. Compared with the hot mix asphalt mixture of SBS, the mixing and compaction temperatures of RH and JY-W1 warm mix asphalt were respectively decreased by 15℃ and 18℃.With the mixing and compaction temperature, the high and low temperature performance and water stability performance of warm mix asp halt mixture were studied. The results show that, compared with the hot mix asphalt of SBS, dynamic stability of asphalt mixture was increased by 46.08%, immersion Marshall stability MS0 and freeze-thaw splitting test strength TSR were respectively increased 2.75% and 2.87%, low temperature splitting and destruction of the maximum bending tensile strength were increased by 2.19% and 60.58% with the RH warm mix agent, obviously, RH warm mix agent improved the high and low temperature performance of asphalt mixture and anti water damage ability. And dynamic stability of asphalt mixture was increased by 51.41% with the JY-W1 warm mix agent, freeze-thaw splitting strength TSR and immersion Marshall stability of MS0 were respectively decreased by 1.41% and 0.47%, low temperature bending failure strain and tensile strength were respectively increased by 46.44% and 1.25%, indicating that JY-W1 warm mix agent can improve the high and low temperature performance of asphalt mixture material, but which have a negative impact on the water stability. Finally, environmental protection and economic of Warm mix asphalt was analyzed, the results show that, compared with the hot mix asphalt of SBS, each producing 1 tons of warm mix asphalt mixture can respectively reduce CO2 emissions 0.73 K g and 0.83 Kg with the RH and JY-W1 warm mix agent, and the heat were respectively decreased by 0.13×108J and 0.16×108J, costs of fuel were reduced by 4.71 yuan and 5.78 yuan. At the same time, adding RH and JY-W1 warm mix asphalt agents lead to construction cost increase 25.59 yuan and 33.42 yuan respectively.In general, two kinds of warm mixing agent have different advantages and disadvantages, the mixing and compaction temperature difference between them was 3℃and have good compaction properties. The low temperature performance of asphalt, high temperature performance, low temperature performance and water stability of warm mix asphalt with RH agent are more favorable. And high temperature performance of asphalt and warm mix asphalt with JY-W1 agent was improved, but which have a negative impact on the water temperature performance. Comprehensive mandatory, recomand RH warm mix agent.
