Value Of Bus Travel Time Reliability Based On Stated Preference Survey

In the study of the bus trip cost, there are two important value indicators: the value of travel time reliability and the value of travel time. The value of travel time reliability is the cost paid by the travelers in order to reduce the error between the actual arrival time and the expected arrival time(early time and late time), it can devided into schedule delay early value and schedule delay late value. With economic development, more and more people pay their attention to the time reliability, and it is necessary for us to study the travel time reliability deeper. In this paper, we study the value of travel time reliability with urban bus as the research target by Stated Preference Survey.Firstly, we purposes the concept of the travel time reliability and the travel time reliability value after a comprehensive literature review, and introduce the method to calculate the value travel time reliability.Secondly, the trip data of urban bus is collected based on Stated Preference Survey method. For the purpose of acquire regular transportation users’ travel preference data, the paper uses uniform design trip context table. After that, the original data is filtered on the data checking principles to guarantee the precision of the model.Thirdly, a new variable’s influence on travel utility is analyzed which is ―crowding level‖. The value of time reliability is improved and tested by SP survey data. The urban bus model is determined and the value of travel time reliability is calculated. The influence of the time reliability is analyzed in the different level of crowding and time constraints.
