Research Of Sustainable Pavement Maintenance Strategy

Roadway construction is gradually shifting focus from building to maintenance. Traditional concept of pavement maintenance is not cost-effective and sustainable, which is disadvantage for road net, society, economy and environment. Thus, sustainable pavement maintenance becomes an inevitable trend and requirements.Inspired by the sustainable development concept, sustainable pavement maintenance takes into full consideration of the whole road net, using scientific management and advanced technology, exploiting green detection methods, conservation technology and materials,emphasizing environmental protection, resource recycling, and energy conservation. It requires to allocate founding, machineries, labor and other resources reasonably and harmoniously, achieve or closely achieve the ideal road net, ensure the sustainability of the road net, promote the sustainable development of the conservation industry, unite the environmental, the economic and social benefits organically. Detailed analysis of its connotation is also presented respectively.Under the current pavement maintenance system and materials and technology, research develops the sustainable pavement maintenance strategy of the HE-LIU Road Net using the PAVERTM, through the road net condition surveys, pavement performance evaluation and prediction, conservation measures timeliness and economic analysis, conservation needs analysis, and the relationship between conservation funding and road net pavement condition research, to maintain a good performance of the road net, make funding uniform-distributed and allocate work quantity balanced.Research uses the theory of AHP, comprehensively evaluates the sustainable degree of pavement maintenance strategy in term of both the level and ability of sustainable development, mainly from the evaluation of pavement conditions, founding, work quantity so as to provide a quantitative basis and reference for decision-makers and promote the application of sustainable pavement maintenance strategy.
