Study On Soundscape In Italian Renaissance Villa Gardens

Italian Renaissance garden is a very important part of the world’ landscape culture. The villa garden built on the hill near the city as affiliated garden of the villa house by the the nobility is one of the most important types of gardens. Because of the unique historical and cultural background and geographical features, the Italian Renaissance villa gardens show the unique gardens’ style and produce the unique characteristics of sounds’ beauty in the garden.The thesis mainly uses the literature research method and case analysis method on the soundscape of Italian Renaissance villa gardens. the main research contents are as followed:Firstly, based on the unique historical and cultural background of Italy during the Renaissance time, The thesis tries to analysis the relationship between the Italian Renaissance villa garden and the Italian science and all kinds of new technology、new ideas in the humanity field, and then tries to explore the cultural mechanism and technology motivation behind the development of the Italian villa garden’s soundscape during Renaissance time.Secondly, after reading a lot of Renaissance painting, literature and music related to the Italian villa garden’s description, the author tries to analysis that how the nobility are interested in the soundscape, and emphasizes the characteristics of the villa garden’s soundscape.Thirdly, based on a large collection of related historical materials, the author tries to summarize the main soundscape types existing in Italian Renaissance villa gardens and the main soundscape features of the Italian Renaissance villa gardens.Fourthly, combined with typical cases of the villa garden, the author trie to found the hidden relationship between the soundscape construction of the Italian Renaissance villa gardens and the space of the garden’s landscape and then further grasp the soundscape’s characteristics of the Italian Renaissance villa gardens.The significance of this thesis is not only to fill the gaps in the domestic research on the Italian Renaissance villa garden’s soundscape but also start to analysis the Italian Renaissance villa garden from the point of view of soundscape. So it is beneficial to grasp the Italian Renaissance villa garden’s design skills. It provides a new perspective for most of the Garden workers to in-depth understand the hidden relationship between the Italian Renaissance villa garden’s development and the nature science、humanity thoughts and artistic theories’ the development. So it is of important theoretical value.
